To create a study and documentation centre aimed to preserve, value, promote and enhance military cultural heritage such as fortifications and generally relevant structures linked to military history. MEDFORT particularly aims to emphasise the fortifications located in the Strait of Messina.

To create a specialised digital form library.

To set up a national and international cooperation with similar organisations and exchanges with experts which pursue the same aims.

To produce scientific publications.

Management of cultural sites belonging to both the private and public sector.

Management of heritage sites proposing targeted strategies in terms of renovation and innovative re-use.

To support similar organisations or cultural institutions in conservation strategies.

To organise cultural activities and events in order to raise awareness about fortified heritage.
